Big Boy

This is great, we finally got Andrew to start sleeping in his room!!!!! Seems like only yesterday we brought him home from the hospital. They grow up way too fast.

Happy Sunday!!!!

Sunday is both my favorite day and least favorite day of the week. I work nights Monday thru Friday, so when I get off work on Saturday morning, I get some stuff done and try to get about 4 hours of sleep. I get up and try to be husband and father and have a normal rest of the day, going to bed at around 11ish. I get a full nights sleep and am raring to go on Sunday. Sunday is my least favorite day because I have to go back to work Monday night so I have to get back into my day sleeping schedule.
Today was a good day, I got almost all my Christmas shopping done, only got 1 or 2 folks left. I HATE shopping this time of year!!!!! People are getting ruder and ruder and it's getting to the point where it's not safe to go to a mall anymore. I don't feel comfortable going too many places without packing a taser with me. I think I will finish my shopping online.
After shopping I went to my monthly magic club meeting. I have been a member of the Tacoma Magic Club, Ring 70 of The International Brotherhood of Magicians for almost 15 years. We had a great turnout this month, which makes the meeting alot of fun.

My mentor, Rick Anderson
Club members discussing magic Steve Dobson performing some card effects.
WOW!!! How did you Do that????
I had my son, Andrew, with me all day. Darlene, her Mom and a friend were butchering chickens all day. Andrew went nuts running around all day, and at the club meeting. He finally passed out on the way home.

Yesterday, I bought myself a new game for my X Box 360, Left 4 Dead, GREAT GAME!!!!!!! It's a zombie apocalypse game where you and 3 other survivors have to fight your way across town thru a hoard of zombies to get rescued. You can play alone with 3 A.I controlled characters or play online with 3 other players. I love playing the Sci-Fi Horror games. I am also a big fan of zombie movies, George A. Romero is a genius in this genre. He has made 5 movies to date, Night of the Living Dead, Dawn of the Dead, Day of the Dead, Land of the Dead and Diary of the Dead. He has another film coming out next year. If you check out these films, watch the ORIGINALS, and the remakes of Night of the Living Dead from 1990 and Dawn of the Dead from a couple years ago. AVOID the remake of Day of the Dead from 2008. Another couple great zombie films were Shaun of the Dead and Fido.

CHRISTMAS CHEER!!!

DOHHHHH!!!!!!!

When I started this blog up again, I told myself that I was only going to add to it about once a week, but this was so funny that I had to get it down while it was fresh in my mind. Let me set this up. Every night, my wife, Darlene goes out to take care of her farm animals. We have a set of 2 way radios, she gives one to me and she has the other one so if something were to happen, she can reach me. Monday night, I'm in the office checking my e-mail, Andrew is playing in his room, Darlene kisses me and puts a radio on the desk. I finish up in the office, close the door, check on Andrew and start dinner. Dinner is about ready and I realize that Darlene is taking a LOOONNGG time with her animals, I should call her and see what's going on. I look for the radio and remembered that it is in the office, I go in and hear the radio's alert going off. She had been trying to reach me for about 15 minutes, why, you ask??? Apparently, Darlene decided to put a large tarp over the camper, she used a ladder to get up there. While she was spreading out the tarp, the ladder somehow got knocked away from the camper and she was stuck up there. This was a fact she was made sure I knew as I was making my way out there to put the ladder back so she could get down. I was very tempted to take a picture for this blog, but I like having the twig and berries attatched to the tree. We have a pig and 2 acres, they won't find my body. I have a very strong feeling that my wife will be suffering from a "headache" all weekend.......

AAHHHH!!!

WOW!! Another busy weekend, Saturday, Darlene went to the neighbor's house to pick up a 5th wheel camper. It needs some minor repairs, but appears to be in decent shape. Darlene's aunt and uncle have lost their house due to foreclosure. We are going to make repairs to the camper and put it on Darlene's mom's property in Purdy so they will have a place to stay until they get back on their feet.

I managed to get a couple hours of sleep, then I had to go off to the Affi Shriners Temple in Tacoma to perform a show with my friends, Rick Anderson and his son Tevin. You can say Rick is my mentor when it comes to magic and performing, he has taught me alot over the years. It was a great show!!!!! I was a little worried when I saw that we were performing for an older group of folks, but I would have to say the at this was one of the best Cups and Balls routines I have every performed!!

Sunday was even BUSIER!!!!. I woke up at the butt ass crack of dawn and got cracking on Andrew's room, Darlene did all the painting in the tight areas and I did the big stuff. The paint was all dry, so it was time to put the room in order. It's done, now we just have to get him to sleep in his new bed. We tried Sunday night to get him to sleep in his new room,. We would put him to bed, then he would get out and come to the door. We would turn our heads, he saw that we saw him and he runs back to bed and acts like he was asleep. It was Sooo cute, of course, I say that now..... we gave him the choice of sleeping in the "big boy bed" or the "baby bed". He picked the baby bed. It may take a bit of time, but we won't try to rush him. We want this to be a pleasant experience for him.

We got everything done just in time to TRY and watch Jeff Dunham's "Very Special Christmas Special". What I saw of it was great, but I was so tired, I fell asleep during the special. I Guess I'll just have to wait till it comes out on DVD.

Speaking of DVD's, my wife thinks I am going WAY to overboard with my collection. Most of the movies I have, she can't handle watching( she doesn't do well with horror or zombie movies, she cringed during "Idle Hands") or thinks are dumb (she doesn't care for Godzilla movies either) There are some VERY hard to find films in my collection, hell, I spent two years searching online for all 29 Godzilla movies as well as some old school Japanese Sci-Fi from the late 70's. We do have alot of "normal" movies, as well as a great deal of Disney films. Andrew is 2 and he already hooked on Japanese Sci-Fi movies. A 2 year old has a very short attention span, so I only play the end of the films. He will sit there and go nuts yelling "Guya", that's what he calls Godzilla and growling at the T.V. He does the same thing with his Godzilla figures. Now, don't get me wrong here, I am only letting him watch the movies from the 60's and 70's where battle scenes are very cartoonish. I won't let him watch any of those movies from the 90's or after 2000 as they are very violent.

Taking it All in Perspective

Well, it's Sunday. Been busting ass trying to get the house straightened up a bit and finish painting Andrew's room. I've been a bit down lately, work has been more annoying than usual. It is really hard to be calm and polite to a "customer" who is calling you a racist because you ask for I.D. for beer or won't sell him beer after 2 a.m. I have lost count on how many times I've been threatened over the last few months. Hell, one of our cashiers was attacked in August!!! I do carry police issue pepper spray, but I am beginning to feel that if "it" ever hits the fan, it may not be enough.
My boss doesn't want me to carry a Taser( m18, x26c, c2. look it up)because if I use it on someone, and they fall and get hurt, they might sue the store. W.T.F over!!!!! If I feel my life is in danger, I won't take the time to use pepper spray, hope to get him in the eyes, hope it works and try to run. I'll feel better if I put two taser darts in him and watch him flop around for 15 seconds. I've been shot with one of these things when I got my certification, trust me, you don't want to fight afterwards. I have made a substantial investment in these items over the last couple years, as I have lost my right to carry firearms because of a mistake I made some time ago with my first wife.
I really miss being able to play paintball, haven't had the time or too much motivation lately. It's a great way to release some frustration, and there's a paintball field 10 minutes from my house!! I guess I just feel guilty if I go spend a day out there pretending to be something I haven't been in 20 years instead of spending the day with my family.
Hell, it's even hard to get to my den and work on some magic, I get down there and something happens and I have to stop what I'm doing midway though a routine. I have a show for the Shriners coming up!! No clues as to what I'm going to do on that one.
It's going to be a rough few weeks with the holidays coming up, being away from my two oldest kids, Margaret and Nicholas is hard. I'm supposed to have them over for a visit at least once a month and a couple weeks for the summer, but the visits are becoming fewer and fewer as are the calls, unless they want something, that is. I still miss them though, I missed pretty much the last 7 years of their lives, Holidays, birthdays, events at school, ect... Part may be that my daughter hates my wife Darlene, Margaret still believes that if Darlene wasn't around, that her mother and I would get back together. My ex-wife Cathy and I have tried that more than once for the kids sake, and it has always ended BAD. The last time I was off my medication and snapped, she hasn't spoken to me since, and I don't blame her. It could be worse, I have a friend who hasn't seen or heard from his kids in years.
I have a wonderful wife, a great son, going to counceling from time to time and I taking the proper medication as I have a Bipolar disorder, depression and anxiety problems. My life is better in a lot of ways, but sometimes I wonder if it was worth the cost.
